The students in 4 G became civil engineers for a day. Their job was to make models of buildings with marshmallows and toothpicks at least 15 centimeters high. Then conduct an experiment to test how well their structure would stand up under the stress of an earthquake.
The earthquake was simulated with a pan of Jello. The more the Jello was wiggled, the greater the earthquake’s magnitude. This was an engaging challenge that can be done at home.
